Job Duties and Responsibilities – Care Worker
- Promote and actively involved in teamwork, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the service user
- Facilitate and implement a person centered service appropriate to the needs, wishes and requirements of service users
- Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling, ensuring comfort and hygiene of service users and adhering to safe practice and risk assessments at all times
- Assist service users in the taking of medication in line with policy and procedure
- Ensure that all interactions with service users are approached with dignity, respect, equality and incorporating choice
- Actively participate in appropriate, educational, recreational and occupational programmes, enabling service users to integrate with their local community and access local resources
- Report and record in line with policy, update records, complete necessary paperwork as deemed fit by supervisors and manager. To key-work individuals as deemed necessary by service manager.
- Ensure safe transportation of clients, by adhering to policy and procedure and the use of all safety equipment as appropriate
- Assist with catering, cleaning, general domestic duties and the documentation of information within the service as deemed necessary
Qualifications
- Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent

- To be able to work effectively in a team providing person centered support for service users
- To comply with health and safety legislation.
- To maintain a basic knowledge of first aid/personal care and to implement good hygiene practices.
- To ensure the privacy and confidentiality of service users at all times.
- Attendance at training as deemed appropriate by the management of the service.
- To promote and be actively involved in teamwork at all times.
- To liaise with families, the multidisciplinary team and other personnel as directed by the Manager
