Battery Systems Mechanical Engineer – Cooling (m/f) at Rimac Automobili

The candidate for this role must have a genuine passion for engineering the best electric vehicles in the world. This role requires a dependable and methodical Engineer for our R&D team to find and evaluate the performance (thermal, mechanical) of our cells, modules, and packs and prototype and test concepts for the next generation of battery technology.

1. Responsibilities:

• Research, acquire and validate methods, materials and technologies to improve battery cell cooling

• Improving cooling design to increase performance and life of battery pack

2. Main tasks:

• Design, develop, release and build fixtures and tools for testing

• Design, develop, release and build solutions for implementation in projects

• Design test specimens and test fixtures

• Technical drawings and production documentation

• Prepare and test batteries of various sizes

• Operate test equipment to obtain thermal data

• Fill out documentation as part of the test sample preparation and testing

• Organization of test data into database

3. Requirements:

• Knowledge of CAD software (preferably Catia)

• Excellent knowledge of thermodynamics

• Good knowledge of Excel

• Basic knowledge of Lithium-ion based battery cells, especially about lithium ion battery safety and dangers

• Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is essential

• Communicative teamwork player

• Dependable and methodical (strict attention to detail)

• Self-organized and goal-oriented

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 

• At least 1 year of professional experience

4. Considered as an advantage:

• Excellent knowledge about materials

• Experience in cooling system design

• Test equipment calibration experience

• Extensive experience in the engineering development
