CONSULTANT IN CEREBROVASCULAR NEUROLOGY AND NEUROREHABILITATION
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSITION
The Neurological Department works with the diagnosis and treatment of patients from Fyn and the surrounding islands at primary and regional level in a range of areas at a highly specialised level. The standard staffing of the department comprises two neurophysiological and 16 neurological consultant positions, of which 13 are currently filled. The specialists work in an 11-shift on-call shift system. There are 18 doctors on the on-call rota – ten first-line physicians and eight back-ups. All these positions are currently filled.
Work area:
The position involves working in the outpatients’ clinic, ward rounds and participation in the on-call system for medical specialists, administrative assignments and handling general neurological assignments involving both admitted patients and outpatients.
The consultant in the present position will join the cerebrovascular team, which at the present time comprises four consultants, two neurologists and two geriatricians, two specialist nurses and three secretaries and is visited by doctors in training on a day to day practice. The present position may by occupied as a junior (afdelingslæge*) or senior consultant (overlæge) in accordance with the qualifications. The cerebrovascular function is divided into two sections, one for acute diagnosis and treatment (the first 1-4 days) and one for subacute treatment and rehabilitation. The two sections have different locations.
Part time leave for research may be negociated.
Qualifications:
• Clinical experience in cerebrovascular diseases and neurorehabilitation
• The ability to participate in interdisciplinary teamwork in a dynamic, confident and constructive manner
• Interest in neurological research
• Experience in the training of medical students.

Pay and employment conditions:
• The position is tenured in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Danish Regions’ Board for Wages and Tariffs (RLTN) and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists (FAS).
