HitraMat AS is today Norway's leading and Europe's largest company in brown crab processing. The company is certified according to FSSC 22000, which is the highest standard in food safety.

HitraMat has annual turnover of approximately 170 million, and employs up to 170 people in high season.

HitraMat is part of Insula, a Nordic group with the goal of becoming the Nordic region's leading company in seafood. HitraMat is located at Hitra Fishing Harbor and is located in the largest catch area for crab in Norway, with good environmental benefits such as clean air and clean seawater.

Up to 4,500 tons are processed annually at the production facility on Kuøya, this constitutes approximately 70% of all brown crabs caught in Norway. HitraMat AS also sells other locally harvested shellfish such as scallops and crayfish.
