Job description

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the academic staff at the department
  • You will be contributing to developing new monitoring techniques
  • You will be working primarily with remote sensing data and spatial habitat models
  • The position will have a supporting role in daily managing of EU projects
  • You will contribute to research and advice for authorities on marine ecosystems
  • These activities will be in close collaboration with the academic staff at the Department as well as international partners.


Who we are
The Department of Ecoscience is engaged in research programs and advisory work covering the major biological subdisciplines. We conduct world-class research in the areas of aquatic biology and ecology, Arctic environment and ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation biology and wildlife management. The Department currently employs approximately 275 academic and technical staff, as well as many PhD students.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and internationally engaged scientific environment at the Section for Applied Marine Ecology and Modelling (for more information see: https://ecos.au.dk/en/researchconsultancy/research-areas/applied-marine-ecology-and-modelling).

Your profile

  • Experience in analysing and processing remote sensing data using advanced statistical tools (e.g., GAM, GLM)
  • Very good skills in programming languages and visualization (e.g., R, Phyton, MatLab, ArcGIS) and databases (e.g., SQL server)
  • Good collaboration skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team within marine science
  • Very good knowledge of English (written and oral)
  • Good communication skills (scientific community, the public, stakeholders, and managers)
  • Preferable experience with advisory work and project administration
