Senior Geophysicist for offshore wind projects
Would you like to use your expertise as a geophysicist by developing new offshore wind farm projects and be responsible for the geophysical aspects in all project phases? Join us and become Senior Geophysicist in our Site Investigation Management department. You will be part of a group of 8 geophysicists and geologists and have 19 committed colleagues with backgrounds as geophysicists, geologists and project managers. In the department, we focus on a high professional level when conducting geo-surveys, interpretation and engineering. The department is part of Wind Power, which has 1400 employees and is one of four business unit in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. You should, however, expect some travelling to our locations both in Denmark and Northern Europe in relation to your work. Areas of responsibility As Senior Geophysicist, you will be responsible for the overall strategy for building geophysical knowledge on site, scoping the surveys and giving input to budgets. Additionally, in cooperation with our geotechnical engineers, you will ensure that the design basis of our offshore wind farms is of high quality. You will among other things establish the geophysical and seabed basis for developing the site and cable routes, and you will also establish and maintain the geological model, ie the seismo-stratigraphically to geotechnically proved ground model. Moreover, you will define the geophysical Scope of Works, including bathymetry, magnetic, side scan sonar, ROV and seismic surveys, and you will provide expertise on seabed changes. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: assist with geophysical surveys, eg daily follow-up on technical quality of geophysical surveys, processing and interpretation be QA responsible for all geophysical data and interpretations send geophysical input to the risk register, including UXO, boulders, geohazard, archaeology, seabed changes and consents support our construction and operations departments with inspections, seabed change surveys, as-built surveys and risk mitigation. In connection with the execution of projects, it will be your responsibility to provide a successful and effective technical dialogue with your colleagues and suppliers. Your profile You have a relevant degree and solid experience with a broad spectrum of geophysical methods. It will be an advantage if you have experience from a position where you have gained knowledge of offshore shallow geophysics. As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write fluent English, and that you have excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey your messages to your stakeholders smoothly and efficiently.
