Job Summary:
As a Purchasing Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in executing and overseeing the procurement process for catering, spare parts, and various supplies for our fleet. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure timely and cost-effective supply, negotiate with suppliers, and contribute to cost reduction initiatives.
DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Execute and monitor procurement for spare parts, and marine supplies.
- Analyze requisitions, control quantities, and compare orders for pricing, quantity, and quality.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective supply of ships.
- Communicate and negotiate with suppliers, checking pricing and invoicing.
- Research and evaluate new suppliers, managing the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
- Contribute to cost reduction initiatives, monitored annually.
- Coordinate bunkering operations, ensuring timely and proper delivery
- Establish regular inventory checks with monthly or weekly requisitions for expenses control and improvement.
- Guide suppliers, traders, and shipyards through custom clearance, invoicing, payment procedures, and contract negotiations; ensure completion of delivery and approve supplier invoices.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance for Technical and Marine departments.
- Monitor and establish processes for the purchasing cycle.
- Organize and oversee the purchasing of ropes, safety equipment, etc., implementing bulk orders to minimize forwarding expenses.
- Coordinate requisition processes through ISM procedure.
- Implement crew training and familiarization procedures for officers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain/Economics/Business.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Purchasing Dept. in Shipping.
- Ability to use modern computer software
