FREYR Battery aims to provide industrial scale clean battery solutions to reduce global emissions. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, FREYR’s mission is to produce green battery cells to accelerate the decarbonization of energy and transportation systems globally.
FREYR has completed its commercially sized pilot factory and started building the first of its planned gigafactories, both in Mo i Rana, Norway. The company has also announced potential development of factories in the U.S. and Vaasa, Finland.
FREYR intends to deliver a minimum of 50 GWh of battery cell capacity by 2025, over 100 GWh of annual capacity by 2028, and over 200 GWh of annual capacity by 2030.

The first step towards achieving our goals is building four battery cell factories in Mo i Rana. We have just opened the doors to our Customer Qualification Plant – the first industrial scale lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility in Norway. Here we will validate and improve technology, materials, and cell designs as we prepare for commercial production at our Gigafactories, where we plan to deliver 43 GWh of battery cell capacity annually by 2025, positioning FREYR as one of Europe’s largest battery cell suppliers.
You will be working with scaling up breakthrough semi-solid technology creating the most sustainable batteries the world has ever seen. We are looking for highly motivated professionals to join our mission, and to help us build a centre of excellence for battery cell manufacturing in Norway.
We are now hiring a Head of HR to oversee all aspects of the human resources function within Operations Mo i Rana. This position reports to SVP Production Mo i Rana and is a part of our Mo i Rana Operations management team. In this position you will be leading the local HR team.
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Co-ordinate manpower plan
- Manage employee & union relations
- Develop collective agreements and shift plans
- Attract, recruit and onboard staff
- Support development of local facilities
- Develop and manage training programmes, inclusive performance culture and leadership capability
- Sustainability reporting and social sustainability projects
- Various projects and tasks in integration, performance- and cultural development
If you are the right candidate, you have the following:
- Preferably a master’s degree in HR or related subject
- Business oriented with a commercial mindset
- Experience from operational HR leadership role(s)
Good communication skills in Norwegian and English, both written and oral. As a person, you always seek to find good, lasting solutions to problems, and are both committed and enthusiastic. You have good communication skills, take personal responsibility and work independently.
We offer the right candidate an important role in developing Norway's first battery cell production facilities. Energy storage is an important key to the world's switch to a sustainable, green economy. FREYR is a frontrunner in Europe's rush to build capacity in battery production. A shift from fossil fuel to electricity-from-renewables could deliver 75 - 90% of the CO2 emission reductions required. FREYR has to move fast. The world needs both battery cells now, and ever better battery cells in the future.
