Data Cabling Installers/Engineers
Main Responsibilities
- Organise and assist in the installation of cable – fibre/copper
- Test cable and set up – competent in use/interrogation of cable testing
- Read drawings – proficient in extracting information
- Terminate faceplate and patch panels proficient in all terminations – fibre/copper
- Take instruction and complete tasks with time lines agreed by management
- Instruct others to perform tasks and measure installation and commissioning of projects
- Mark up drawings – complete ‘As Builts’ neatly and accurately to ensure all information is
- captured
- Supervise assistant Installers and installers – delegate certain tasks and monitor against
- target
- Complete paperwork of plans, variations, job sheets, bill of materials, scope of works specific
- to both Kedington and client, returns – accurately and neatly
- Complete health and safety risk assessments and method statements for all tasks – ensurethey are recorded and filed
- Take care and responsibility of Kedington plant – keep register
- Specific technical skills‐ in a minimum of one field e.g. Copper, Fibre, Electrical etc.
- Analyse, problem solve, trouble shoot and correct
- Able to see the finished job and plan project accordingly – working to agreed timelines
- Take ownership of the day to day activities of a project and coordinate, direct, and supervisea number of installers and assistant installers
- Communicate with managers, installers, assistant installers and customers
- Negotiate with other trades men for space and time – site co‐ordination
- Attend site meetings as per site managers instructions
- Travel will be required throughout North and South of Ireland to project sites
Essential Criteria
- Experience of termination and testing of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat7 or Fibre optic installations
- CSR Card
- Driving Licence
- Hardworking, flexible attitude to types of work, location and hours
- Team Player – look to help others out and mentor junior staff members
- Ability to distinguish between colours, manual dexterity, basic literacy and numeracy
- Ability to work safely at heights (Minimum working height of 3m)
- Able to use email and online electronic documentation sign off tools
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of running data cabling installation’s on site
- Experience of patching within a live office environment of 100+ users
- Fibre optic experience including splicing and testing
- Blown Fibre experience
- Electrically competent
- Configuration of Wireless Aps, Routers and Switches
- Fault finding experience
- Previous experience of supervising staff
- UPS experience
