Delivery Specialist
The Delivery Specialist provides daily operational support and configuration in a dedicated customer environment to support the management and use of their Symmetrix and VNX, Isilon & Centera systems. Responsible for performing a wide variety of daily management tasks as well as ability to provide recommendations for effective and efficient use based on EMC Best Practices guidelines.
Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday: 8.30 – 17:00 with the possibility of participating in a rotational on call schedule.
Proficiency in EMC SAN Administration
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshooting and administration of VMAX, DMX, (possibly)VNX, Isilon, VPLEX, Cisco/Brocade or McData Switches.
- A good understanding of SYMCLI, SMC & Unisphere required.
- A thorough understanding of local and remote replication techniques – SRDF, BCV, CLONE, RecoverPoint
- An understanding of Performance analysis on array components and switches.
- SAN switches: Zone Management, port/component health on one or more of the following switches Cisco, McData or Brocade
- Open and/or work with EMC Customer Support on cases involving coordination of CE or applying of solutions for problems.
- Work with the customer to resolve storage related issues such as HBA driver/firmware issues, PowerPath Problems or basic LUN discovery/configuration.
- Run Hardware health checks and understand how to gather performance data and provide general analysis.
- Excellent written and communication skills required as you will be working with the customer and many remote teams.
- Documentation of processes, issues and reports is required from time to time.
- Participation in customer meetings and weekly storage management meetings with the remote teams.
- Provide support to meet as per SLAs.
- Change control and incident management.
- Assist higher management by giving inputs for betterment of existing processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, turnaround time for resolution.
- Oncall may be required
- Occasional Travel may be required
SKILLS
- Strong technical aptitude, with proven problem solving abilities and the ability to multi-task.
- Proficiency in EMC storage hardware environments primarily VMAX and Cisco FC Switches/Directors.
- An understanding of how large corporate environments work, and how important adherence to processes and controls can be.
- A good understanding of MS and Unix OS environments, with respect to storage, e.g. how to discover a new device/install power path.
- Ability to work both independently and in a global remote team.
- Understanding of ITIL Principles is desired but training will be provided.
- EMC Proven Professional Certifications Desired
