EURES services are fully integrated with the services provided by the Polish labour offices and cover as follows:

  • advisory and support to job seekers in finding relevant job and to the employers in recruiting the employees of the requested professional skills;
  • informing on living and working conditions and situation on the European labour markets, considering existing labour shortages and surpluses;
  • initiating the activities for counteracting and combating the mobility barriers on the European labour market;
  • implementation of international projects.

EURES services in Poland are being provided by EURES Advisors and Assistants from the Voivodeship Labour Offices as well as by Job Placement. Officers from the Poviat Labour Offices, whereas coordination of participation of Polish Public Employment Service in EURES network and development of EURES services remains the responsibility of the Labour Market Department in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

The activity of the EURES network in Poland is, among others, organization of international job fairs and exchanges, accompanied by presentations on living and working conditions in the selected EU/EEA states and job interviews of the foreign employers with the Polish candidates.

Cooperation within EURES has initiated a number of international projects and initiatives.

SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE LABOUR MARKET

Poland is situated in Central Europe at the Baltic Sea. It is bordered by Russia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine to the east, Slovakia and the Czech Republic to the south, and Germany to the west. Poland’s land area is 312,683 thousand km² . It has approx. 38 mln inhabitants. The administrative division of Poland since 1999 has been based on three levels of subdivision. The territory of Poland is divided into gminas,  poviats and voivodships.
The capital city is Warszawa.
The unemployed registered in the labour offices at the end of February 2014  were 13.9%  of economically active population (in January 2014 - 14.0%, in February 2013 - 14.4%). The highest unemployment rate was in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship (22.3%), the Kujawsko - Pomorskie Voivodeship (18.8%) and the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship (18.5%).  The lowest unemployment rate was in the following voivodeships: Wielkopolskie (10%), Mazowieckie (11,4) and Śląskie (11,7%).
Surpluses of labour force are economists, educators and specialists in public administration. For these professions growing number of unemployed, and decreases the number of job offers. Most in the profession of teacher. We need the people to work in such professions as building caretakers, general office clerks or a contact centre salespersons / telemarketers.
