KUOPIO

Kuopio is the seventh largest city in Finland. There are good and versatile transport connections to Kuopio. Valtatie 5, which runs from Helsinki to Lapland, is the area's main thoroughfare.

Kuopio has several special characteristics, for which it is remembered both nationally and internationally. The most legendary aspects of Kuopio are the fish cocks, the market, the Savo dialect and the Puijo tower with its green areas. Kuopio is also known for its many events such as the The Dance festival, Kuopio Wine Festival, Finland Ice Marathon, Puijo ski jumping competitions and other annual events, of which the oldest events have traditions spanning several decades in Kuopio.

The proximity to nature and the location in the middle of Europe's largest lake area create a wonderful setting for activities throughout the year. In summer, you can get on the water using the wonderful boating routes and Finland's largest inland water fleet.

The impressive Saaristokatu with its many bridges fulfills the living dream of Finns. Saaristokaupunki, the newest residential area located just a few kilometers from the center of Kuopio, was also the impressive stage of the 2010 Housing Fair.
