Sociocultural Animator

We are looking for a Sociocultural Animator to join our team at our Day center for older adults (elderly) during the Summer (June to September). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with elderly people, designing engaging activities and contributing to a positive and dynamic community environment.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, organise, and deliver cultural and recreational activities.
• Develop and implement sociocultural projects tailored for older adults.
• Facilitate group dynamics and promote participation through non‑formal methods.
• Support ongoing activities and seasonal events.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality programming.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and motivating environment for all elders.

We offer:

• Temporary contract for the Summer period (June-September).
• Part‑time or flexible working schedule; between 4-8 hours per day (to agree with candidate); salary adjusted according to working hours.

• Qualification in Sociocultural Animation or related field (Social Work, Gerontology, etc.).
  OR
  Previous experience as Sociocultural Animator.
• Strong communication skills.
• Creativity, initiative and ability to motivate elderly people.
• Good organizational skills and ability to work independently, when needed.
• Basic computer skills (e.g., using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, etc.).
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in different contexts and/or environments.
• Availability to work part‑time and/or flexible hours during Summer months.
• Basic knowledge of Portuguese.

• Advanced knowledge of Portuguese.
• Previous volunteering experience (preferably with elderly people).
• Previous experience working with elderly people (experience with individuals with dementia is a plus).
• First aid knowledge and/or certified training.

• Lunch included during working days.
• Working days: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
