COMPANY:

Dana Belgium NV designs, produces and assembles vehicle drivelines for Light Vehicle, Commercial Vehicle, Off Highway vehicles and power technologies in different sectors. They are a thought leader in their market. The company employs about 500 persons. For their motors & power conversion engineering team, part of the Electrification and Mechatronics Engineering Group that is headquartered in their facility in Bruges, they are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer.

FUNCTION:

Dana is searching for a skilled and motivated candidate in the area of mechanical design to support the development of mechanical and electrified driveline systems for its driveline business units. This work involves developing complete driveline systems, subsystems and components to improve and expand Dana’s product portfolio with a commitment to improving vehicle safety, performance and fuel economy.

As mechanical design engineer, you have the following responsibilities:

  • Design and development from concept level to handover to the launch team of axle and transmission systems for electric/hybrid vehicle drivelines, transmission systems for conventional vehicle drivelines and axle systems for active drivelines: i.e. mechatronic torque management products. These activities include responsibility for specification, designing, testing and delivery of designed components.
  • Work on applications spanning from passenger cars to heavy off-road equipment.
  • Work with Core Systems engineer and development teams to implement developed/specified products.
  • Work in partnership with Program Management, Mechatronics and other business units to execute product strategy.
  • Lead generation of all engineering/quality documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, BD, PD, SDS, Functional Safety, etc.), with emphasis on full requirements cascade.
  • Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect needed data.
  • Follow Stage Gate development processes to meet project goals including budget, timing and quality of delivery.
  • Document lessons learned and update OneDana procedures.

PROFILE:

  • You have a master science degree in Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineering.
  • You have minimum 3 years experience in designing drivetrain systems.
  • You have experience in conceptual designwork such as powerpath generation and work out concepts in 3D with basic mechanical components sizing (bearings/ shafts/ gears).
  • You have experience with DFMEA, DVP&R and bench validation on component and system level.
  • You have knowledge about production techniques (such as castings) and materials (steel, aluminum).
  • CAD tools such as NX, Romax, Masta are known.
  • You demonstrate ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues.
  • You have strong organization, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Creative mind and flexible attitude is necessary.
  • You are able to travel internationally (10-15% typical).
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You must be able to work in an international, diverse team.
