Dana Belgium NV designs, produces and assembles vehicle drivelines for Light Vehicle, Commercial Vehicle, Off Highway vehicles and power technologies in different sectors. They are a thought leader in their market. The company employs about 500 persons. For their motors & power conversion engineering team, part of the Electrification and Mechatronics Engineering Group that is headquartered in their facility in Bruges, they are looking for an electrical motor drive engineer.
FUNCTION:
Dana is searching for a skilled and motivated candidate in the area of Electrical Motor Drives to support the development of electrified driveline systems within its Electrification and Mechatronics Engineering group. This work involves developing the electric drive part for pure electric and hybrid driveline systems, as well as the development of the components (motor, inverter) to improve and expand Dana’s product portfolio with a commitment to improving vehicle safety, performance and fuel economy.
As electrical motor drive engineer, you have the following responsibilities:
- Design, develop & specify, sourcing of electrical and electromagnetic drivetrain components (motor, inverter, DC/DC converter) for electric or hybrid vehicle driveline products/systems from concept to production; includes responsibility for specification, testing and delivery of electrical components.
- Work with Test department to characterize, verify and validate developed solutions.
- Discover and track innovative, competitive edge-creating technology developments in motors and power converters.
- Work in partnership with Program Management and all business units to align and execute product strategy.
- Support generation of all engineering/quality documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, Functional Safety, etc.) for all electrical systems (high-voltage and 48V).
- Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect needed data.
- Document lessons learned and update OneDana procedures.
PROFILE:
- You have a master science degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in specifying, designing and testing electric drivetrain components and drive system (motor, inverter, dc/dc converter, wire harness, …).
- You have strong experience in applying Systems Engineering Fundamentals (SEF).
- Working knowledge of electrical converter and motor manufacturing/assembly and vehicle assembly methods is necessary.
- You have electrical drive bench testing and EMC testing experience.
- You are capable of specifying components such as electromagnetic design of electric machines insight and power electronic components and inverter sizing, dynamics and system interaction.
- You are capable of designing components such as electromagnetic design of electric machines experience and inverter design.
- You can demonstrate ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues.
- You have strong organization, problem solving and communication skills.
- You are able to travel internationally (10% typical).
- You are fluent in English.
- You must be able to work in an international, diverse team.
