Germany scores with North Rhine-Westphalia
North Rhine-Westphalia (the locals call it “NRW”) is the economic heart of Germany, an important industrial state with a rapidly expanding service sector. With 18 million inhabitants, NRW is the most populous and also the most densely populated state in Germany. Covering an area of 34,084 square kilometres, it is the fourth-largest German state by size.
Here in NRW, we have many years of experience with a colourful mix of nationalities. Located in the west of Germany, NRW features 30 of the 81 German municipalities with over 100,000 inhabitants, including Cologne (over 1 million), the state capital Düsseldorf, Dortmund and Essen (all about 600,000 inhabitants) and other cities predominantly located in the Rhine Ruhr metropolitan area, the largest urban area in Germany and the fourth-largest on the European continent.
Here, imposing industrial monuments stand alongside relaxing landscape parks, elegant shopping streets alternate with urban metropolitan oases. Cosmopolitanism and creativity characterise the attitude towards life in NRW.
Germany will host EURO 2024, have been chosen to stage the 17th edition of the UEFA European Championship. West Germany hosted the 1988 edition, but this will be the first time that Germany will stage "the UEFA European Championship" since reunification. Four of the ten venues chosen to host games at the tournament are located in our beautiful NRW: Dortmund: BVB Stadion Dortmund, Cologne Cologne Stadium, Düsseldorf: Düsseldorf Arena, Gelsenkirchen: Arena Auf Schalke.

Need help? Contact your EURES Advisor and he or she will be glad to help you.
Keep your company profile updated
This is your public introduction to potential applicants. It should cover your main activities and projects, which type of profiles you are looking for and what your organization expects from them.
To reach out to jobseekers all over Europe, add at least a small introduction in English.
You should as well add your logo – and, under the Websites section, your web and social media accounts.
If you have any videos (on Youtube or Vimeo) or images (pictures, infographics, …) which can make your profile more appealing and informative, add them to the Media Gallery. Ideally these should be recruitment-focused and in English (or subtitled in English).
How to register / improve a company profile
Review your applicants and invite them for an interview
Jobseekers are applying for your jobs. You can pre-select some for online interviews.
Once you are logged in, go to Job Applications, where you will find an overview of all applications. To check their CVs, click on the Ongoing job applications tab. Click on the job applicant's name, go through the profile and check the attached CV or online profile. If it matches your requirements, call him/her for an online interview.
Pre-define your availability for interviews on the same page by clicking on the Set timeslots button. By default, the time slots are 30 minutes. If you have several colleagues engaged during the event day, you can set up to 5 interviews per slot and assign them to different recruiters.
The applicants you invite will choose the time that suits them best from those you have available. Your schedule is automatically updated when applicants confirm their presence.
You can check and download your interview agenda at any time from the Job Applications, Scheduled tab, to know who to meet via the platform's video chat (Jitsi) on each day and time. You can also download applicants' CVs.
Information for non-EU/EEAcandidates
Citizens of countries which do not belong to the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, need a residence document in order to enter and stay in Germany. Access to the German labour market is determined by the provisions of the Residence Act (AufenthG) and the Employment Regulation (BeschV) pertaining to it.
Different residence documents are issued depending on the duration and purpose of the stay. There are seven different residence documents based on the Residence Act: the visa, the residence permit, the EU Blue Card, the EU permanent residence permit, the ICT-Card, the Mobile-ICT-Card and the settlement permit.
Generally people wanting to enter Germany for the first time in order to take up work, must apply for a visa from the relevant German embassy or consulate in their country of origin, before entering Germany. It is important to select the right visa type for the intended purpose.
Citizens of Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the USA may also enter Germany without a visa and apply for a residence permit in Germany directly before taking up employment.
Before the visa expires, a residence document for the purpose of employment must be applied for from the relevant immigration authority. If a national visa (type-D visa) was issued by the embassy the employment can be taken up immediately. Nevertheless a registration at the competent authorities - citizens' centre as well as foreigners registration office - should be done within the first three months.
Further information is available on the official website of the German government „Make it in Germany“ and the Federal Foreign Office. The official website of the Federal Foreign Office clears up with rumours about the migration to Germany.
