Basecamp NORD seeks versatile chef for burger restaurant

 

Basecamp NORD is a visitor center located in Målselv Mountain Village in Målselv, Troms og Finnmark, Norway. It has an indoor «glamping» area, burger restaurant, café, and pub. In the building you will also find the Visit Bardufoss’ headquarters, and the premises works as a starting point for a lot of exciting activities. 2022 will be an exciting year at Basecamp NORD, with major upgrades and building a spa. Basecamp NORD is operated by Rundhaug Gjestegård AS, a historic hotel located on Rundhaug, about 15 km from Basecamp NORD.

We are now looking for a committed chef for our burger restaurant and café.

You will manage the kitchen at Basecamp NORD daily, working closely with our head chef at Rundhaug Gjestegård. The burger restaurant serves gourmet burgers with homemade bread, garnish, and dressings, and you will be given the opportunity to develop and change the menu according to seasons and holidays. Basecamp NORD will be your primary work location, however, in short periods you may be relocated to Rundhaug Gjestegård for assisting the kitchen. The position also includes tasks related to the daily operations of Basecamp NORD, like breakfast service, reception, waitering. The position is full time and permanent with 40 hours per week. 2 weekends per month and national holidays are required.

The activity at Basecamp NORD is expected to be intensified around the high season, like Christmas, new years, and easter, and work will be required in these periods. The work hours will vary according to season and need. Our ideal candidate is self-moving and flexible, with experience from professional kitchens. We wish for you to have experience within the hotel or tourist business, or other business within the service industry. You are creative and solution oriented.

Main duties

• Daily management of the restaurant and café

• Food production

• Maintain routines for food safety, cleaning, and general safety

• Provide quality and service

• Kitchen economy and item ordering

• Assist other operating functions when necessary

Desired qualifications

• Chef certification – relevant experience can compensate for the lack of formal education

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a chef

• Experience from the service industry

• Driver license

• You are experienced and skilled, hardworking, and motivated

• You are flexible and are comfortable in periods with higher work pace

• You are a team player and can communicate well with other personnel
