User Support Engineer (f/m)

Job role

We are looking for a person to provide user support for control system design and integration and system engineering. The selected candidate will get familiarized with the control system for ITER, the biggest scientific project on earth, and will join a team to provide professional user support to instrumentation and controls suppliers to ITER from around the world. Responsibilities

• Getting familiar with the ITER project and with the control system technologies used.
• Providing support and assistance to ITER suppliers around the world using these control system technologies to develop their subsystem instrumentation and control software.
• Delivering training courses on the subject of these control system technologies.
• Project planning, project management, effort estimates.
• System design, architecture and engineering.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Familiarity with working in the Linux environment (Red Hat or similar preferred).
• Good organisational skills and being highly responsible.,
• Developed communicational skills and an open mind for discussion and team collaboration.
• B.Sc. in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related technical disciplines.
• Fluency in English (speaking and writing).
• Willingness to occasionally work on site (in the Provence region in France).

In addition, the following skills, although not required, will be considered favorably

• Experience with at least one general purpose programming language (C/C++, Java, or Python preferred).
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred).
• Experience writing user documentation, test procedures and QA.
• Comfortable making presentations in English in front of an audience.
• Experience with bash scripting.
