
The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) - Platform Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer - DTU Food
The DTU National Food Institute is looking for a Platform Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer with focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure to facilitate efficient use, sharing and storage of data within our Institute. The aim is to provide excellent data support for both research projects and our extensive advisory service activities.
The job
The position will be part of a newly established Data Support team within our Academic Support function.
Responsibilities:
- Kubernetes & Infrastructure Management: Collaborate with RIT to establish and manage Kubernetes environments with integrated storage solutions for DTU Food, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency for research workloads.
- Storage & Databases: Design, implement, and manage research data storage, backups, and database solutions (MariaDB/MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server), including network shares, data lakes, and data warehouses tailored to domain-specific standards and research needs.
- DevOps & Automation: Automate infrastructure management and deployment using GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, and Terraform.
- Research IT Security & Compliance: Implement secure secret management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault) and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Monitoring & Logging: Deploy and manage system monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios) and log collection (Elastic Stack) to improve system reliability.
- GitLab Administration: Oversee and maintain the National Food Institute’s GitLab platform to support research and development projects.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), the organization agreement for IT employees (Prosa) in the service of the state, or another relevant agreement.
The position is a full-time position. Starting date is 1 August 2025 (or according to mutual agreement).
The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.

Our expectations of you
To be considered for the position, you must have:
- Real-world experience in managing Kubernetes-based infrastructure
- Practical experience in the design, implementation, and management of data storage, backups, and database solutions
- Actual experience in the automation of infrastructure management
Additionally, the following experiences are desired:
- “From scratch” Kubernetes implementation
- Specific experience with research data management
- Familiarity with GDPR
- Specific experience with GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Elastic Stack, MariaDB/MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server
As a person, you are highly responsible, self-motivated and have an eye for finding solutions. You have good communication skills in both oral and written English and thrive on collaborations and providing excellent data support solutions to colleagues.
