Early Stage Researcher (ESR) position for task-specifik uncertainty determination for CT metrology

Description: You will develop a methodology that allows assessing the task-specific measurement uncertainty in Computed Tomography metrology in accordance to the ISO-GUM (Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement). Starting from a theoretical method for uncertainty determination, distinct uncertainty contributors for CT will be identified. Subsequently, a series of systematic measurements and simulations will be carried out to quantify the influence of the distinct contributors. A major challenge relates to the fact that a number of influencing parameters are correlated, hence varying only one of the parameters is often impossible. The simulations will help reducing the required measurement time, and to isolate and/or eliminate individual influences (by e.g. representing the source as an ideal spot or considering monochromatic X-ray beams). Intensive co-operation is foreseen with ESR4, 5 and 7 by mutual secondments. You will validate your findings in cooperation with the fellows working in WP4 and during your secondment at the industrial associated partner Argon Measuring Solutions.

Secondments: During this project, you will do a secondment (of a few months) to PTB (Germany), X-TEK (U.K.) and Argon Measuring Solutions (Belgium)

Duration: 36 months (enrolment in a PhD program at KU Leuven)
