Restaurant Chef

Location: The Unicorn Bar & Restaurant, Limerick

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Chef to join our team at The Unicorn Bar & Restaurant in Limerick. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, ensuring each meal meets our high standards for quality, taste, and presentation.

This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to work efficiently during busy service times. The ideal candidate will have a passion for good food, a strong understanding of kitchen hygiene, and the ability to work well as part of a friendly and professional team.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Chef or Cook in a restaurant, hotel, or bar kitchen
• Ability to prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes to a high standard
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP regulations
• Good knowledge of menu planning, portion control, and presentation
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage time effectively during busy service periods
• Positive attitude and genuine passion for cooking and customer satisfaction
• Culinary qualification or relevant experience (preferred)

• Experience working in bar and restaurant kitchens or casual dining settings
• Knowledge of Irish and European cuisine
• Ability to create daily specials or contribute to menu ideas
• Experience with grill, fry, or carvery service
• Certification in Food Safety or HACCP Level 2/3
• Strong plating and presentation skills
• Good customer interaction skills during open-kitchen or service events
• Flexibility to assist during special events or busy weekends
