One of our important strategic initiatives in Hempel is to accelerate development and implementation of a data platform and pipeline to monitor and predict the fuel performance of vessels around the world. This is a key supporting initiative in Hempel’s overall journey to improve vessel performance and help our customers achieve significant fuel and CO2 emission savings.
Strengthen our team by enhancing our data flows and converting them to insights
The Hempel Hull Performance Team is working towards lowering the global CO2-emission through big data analysis and vessel performance reporting. As a part of the team, you will get the opportunity to utilize enormous and complex data collections to advise customers on how they can maximize the performance on their vessel. By combining GPS-, engine-, weather-, and many other types of data, you can help lower the global marine fuel consumption through hull optimization.
The main focus areas for this role are:

Optimizing and continually developing existing data flows to improve processing time and reduce manual steps in data analysis workflows

Construction and maintaining of robust solutions for big data pipelines between databases

Communication and working with a diverse set of internal stakeholders

Connecting data obtained through various types of APIs, maintaining and expanding data flows as well as ensuring that data preparation, analysis steps and dashboards are running

Improving on structure and automation steps in data cleaning, formatting and analytics to streamline our current vessel performance monitoring solutions

Discuss vessel monitoring results with sales departments to advise them on further actions, based on analytical results

Connecting and/or combining various dataflows to produce evidence-based results from big data, along with the possibility of presenting to external customers
You will be joining a dedicated team of seven colleagues in the Hull Performance team, working across our Global Services and Marine Business Units. The team is based in Hempel’s headquarters in Kgs. Lyngby.

As our ideal candidate you have deep interest and passion for working with large data sets and using analytics and data flows as a tool to drive our business forward. You are thorough, disciplined and reliable with strong planning and follow up skills and possess great interpersonal skills.
The main requirements for the role are:

Experienced in coding in languages such as Python, Matlab, and SQL. Working or recreational experience with cloud-based platforms such as Azure or AWS is a plus

Curious by nature and able to combine your structured logic with a creative approach to find solutions to challenges you haven’t faced before

Educational background from IT, engineering, natural sciences, economics, or business management

Knowledge of statistical modelling. General knowledge of machine learning is a plus

Ability to manage large data sets and procuring data through APIs
-
High motivation to make a difference and engage in various performance analyses to support our goal of reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions from our customer’s vessels

Thriving with rapid change and having to pivot solutions. Excited by the idea of having to develop new solutions to solve and/or automatize novel processes.

Experience with Microsoft Power Platform or other BI tools is a big plus

Fluent in English
