THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER ROLE WITHIN INNOVATE / THE PURPOSE OF
THE ROLE:
Within the Innovate business unit, the role of the Business Development Manager is to increase revenue, obtain new business and create new opportunities. The Business Development Manager, reporting to the Commercial Manager, must achieve business value for the organisation through an unrelenting focus on:
1. Winning new business
2. Development of customer relationships
The Business Development Manager needs to focus on specific, measurable outcomes in all that they do.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet and exceed key revenue, customer satisfaction and new business targets
- Build strong contacts across customer base and understand what is important to their business so that meaningful relationships can be developed
- Source new business leads through cold calling and the management of all internal and external leads
- Qualify new prospects and prepare proposals, mailings and new initiatives as required
- Work with the Operations Team to ensure that your customers receive the service they require
- Take ownership of customer issues and use initiative when problem solving
- Understand and keep up to date on the latest technology, products and technical issues affecting your customers
- Update the Innovate’s ERP system, ConnectWise, with all daily activities and maintaining a calendar within this system fully up to date at all times
- Update all contacts, leads and proposals within ConnectWise to ensure that the information and your pipeline is always up to date
- Provide weekly / monthly qualitative and quantitative reports from ConnectWise to the Commercial Manager and Operations Function on the business development and sales pipeline and plans
- Provide support to cross functional teams in developing business plans, budgets, product plans, pricing plans and marketing plans as required
- Develop, present and speak at internal and external customer meetings, events and trade shows
COMPETENCIES (TECHNICAL AND BEHAVIOURAL)
TECHNICAL
BS/BA degree or equivalent plus 5 years’ experience in:
- B2B sales or B2B customer account management
- Sales of IT or telecommunications services
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets in business market
- Results based with a focus on customers
- Working in a constantly changing environment
- Full clean drivers licence
