Learning and Skills Development Specialist - BAT Trieste
The Operations Skills Development Specialist will lead the full training lifecycle for factory employees, from Training Needs Analysis (TNA) through planning, execution, and effectiveness evaluation. Working within a cross-functional team, this role collaborates with departments like Production, HR, Quality, and EHS to identify skill gaps, coordinate technical and soft skills trainings, and maintain training records. This position offers a dynamic environment, where no two days are the same, and is pivotal in enhancing employee development and supporting factory projects with Learning & Development expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end training process, including TNA, planning, execution, and effectiveness evaluation.
- Collaborate with various departments to develop a skills matrix and establish role-based knowledge requirements.
- Organize and support training sessions tailored to specific needs across the factory.
- Guide managers in team development and build a team of internal coaches/trainers.
- Maintain training records, report to top management, and support factory projects with L&D insights.
- Participate in weekly meetings to understand upcoming training needs and monitor ongoing training activities.
- Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring smooth integration for new employees.
- Conduct periodic assessments of employee knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with Production, HR, Quality, and Legal teams on specific EHS-related training tasks.
- Monitor the annual training plan, ensuring all sessions align with strategic goals.
- Identify and develop internal trainers to support employee learning programs.
Daily Activities:
- Engaging with production teams to discuss training needs and scheduling.
- Coordinating with trainers and participants to ensure training quality and adherence to plans.
- Tracking onboarding processes and ensuring knowledge assessments occur as planned.
- Collaborating with various departments to support both routine and ad-hoc training requirements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Understanding and embodying BAT culture and behaviors.
- Effective execution of EHS-related training tasks.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive training records.
Team Structure:
This role is part of a team that includes a training coordinator, the line manager, and the OSD specialist. Additionally, it collaborates with a cross-functional team of seven people.
Key Stakeholders:
- Internal: Production (primary stakeholder), HR, Legal, Quality, EHS.
- External: Other BAT factories and the Global BAT training center.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Psychology, or related fields. No engineering degrees.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role is preferred, but proactive candidates with little or no experience may also be considered.
- Languages: Mandatory proficiency in English and at least upper-intermediate Italian.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables), ability to create structured reports and presentations.
- Soft Skills: Proactive, with strong communication, a positive attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Other Preferences: Open to candidates residing in Trieste, including foreign nationals with intermediate Italian language skills.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, office-based position with an 8-hour workday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday).
