The GLF Facades Project Manager leads the project through its phases of design, procurement, manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning and certification. He / She assumes responsibility for the programme, budget, quality, and health & safety for the project and coordinates the activities of GLF departments and supply chain partners to ensure effective delivery within the programme requirements. He / She has a third-level engineering, construction or architectural qualification, a knowledge of construction and fabrication, and a strong interest in modern building facades. The fast-paced environment requires drive, enthusiasm and commitment to get the job done, while representing the company in its interaction with Contractors and Design Teams.

Responsibilities :

  • The Project Manager is charged with the task of managing projects.
  • The Project Manager will act as the primary point of communication with the Customer.
  • The Project Manager is charged with the task of producing the Project Programme and with the task of ensuring that it is achieved.
  • The Project Manager is charged with the task of ensuring that the site team carry out the works in accordance with the specification and programme.
  • The Project Manager is charged with the task of managing the site team in order that the project can be completed in the most cost effective and most rewarding way for GLF.
  • The Project Manager is charged with the task of ensuring that the safety systems in place are adequate to ensure that accidents are prevented.
  • The Project Manager is charged with the task of procurement of all necessary site resources for the carrying out of the works.

Scope of Duties :

  • Upon handover from the Commercial / Estimating Department, assume control and co-ordination of the programme.
  • Communicate effectively with the Main Contractor in writing and in meetings, to manage the relationship between GLF and the Customer.
  • Liaise with Design Team and GLF Design Team to ensure construction requirements/buildability issues are incorporated into the GLF Design Solutions.
  • Review Architect’s drawings and propose design solutions.
  • Represent company at meetings.
  • Manage the GLF design team, encouraging standardisation of details, to achieve best use of available resources.
  • Review programme with team and agree design / procurement programme.
  • Liaise with GLF Procurement and Production team, to ensure compliance with the programme.
  • Prepare Project Execution Plans, Quality Plans and RAMS.
  • Liaise with consultants.
  • Resolve technical difficulties.
  • Visit site as required, assisting with site management.
  • Keep abreast of product and system developments.
  • Implement and maintain the project quality plan for each project under his control during the design and construction phases.
  • Attend fortnightly project meetings, reporting on Health & Safety, Programme, Quality and Financial matters pertaining to each project.
  • Issue regular project reports and dropline programmes.
  • Review project budgets with Technical and Commercial Team regularly, and report on budgets.
  • Review and agree sub-contract installers’ payment applications and accounts, in conjunction with the Commercial team.
  • Ensure compliance with GLF ISO 9001 Quality Procedures.
  • Assist Estimating / Commercial team where necessary, with advice on construction issues.
  • Assist Commercial Team with the preparation of monthly payment applications
  • Co-ordinate the compilation and submission of the O&M Manuals / Safety Files

  • GLF Operations Director and Design Manager
  • GLF Site Manager / Foreman
  • GLF Sub-Contract Installers & Directly-employed installers
  • GLF Head Office Team, including Technical Director, Commercial Manager, Production Manager, Purchasing, Accounts, etc.
