Job offer description

We are looking for team members who are above all passionate to learn about snowmobiling, ice fishing,  snowshoeing and the Aurora borealis. Additional guiding experience is a benefit, but we provide training that will teach the person everything  they need to know to work in the cold environment and offer amazing customer service.

We do not have a required education or level of experience, as our team is always consisting of senior guides,  experienced guides and new guides, all of which are joined by the most important thing - a passion for snowmobiling, nature and the desire to offer the best customer service!

Job requirements

CONTRACT AND SALARY

We offer a 0-120 hour contract, which are freelance contracts. It is very important to understand that we need guides who  are coming to do work, so we do expect that they will receive on average 100 hours per three weeks. The reason we give these kinds of contracts is that we cannot promise 8 hours a day Monday to Friday with two days free in the week - our weeks are  different, some weeks there may be more hours and some weeks less.

We always hire a little less guides than we need in order to aim to give an average of 100 hours / 3 weeks, also in the lowest  season possible. In both locations, work is very different month by month, some months being more busy and some less.  In general, we offer the contract from 20th of Nov 2023 to 15th of April 2024.

The salary is calculated with an hourly rate and the holiday supplement is already added to the hourly rate. We offer competitive salaries for the right candidates starting at 12€ + 9% holiday compensation.

Evening compensation – 1,24€ / hour extra (20-06 o’clock)

Sunday or holiday – double salary

Over hours – Overtime compensation occur when a guide works more than 120 hours in a three week period. They are  compensated as follows, first 18h hourly rate+50% and the rest holy rate +100%.

INSURANCE

The guides have work insurance - they are insured for bodily injuries, damages to work equipment and any possible  damage to the third party. We recommend that they bring with them the European Health Insurance Card (blue card).

TRAINING

All staff will have a non-paid get-together training period in the last week on November (week 48) - this  is mandatory to get the job. During these days you will get all of the information and training that you will need to start your career as a safari guide and you will also get to know all your new colleagues. You will also get First Aid training.  The company provides accommodation as well as food during the training days..

WORKING EQUIPMENT

There is no need to buy any expensive winter equipment as working gear will be provided: snowmobiling boots,  woollen socks, two-piece thermal gear meaning trousers and jacket, gloves and helmet. You will also get a guide  backpack with all needed First aid and safety kit. What we recommend is the following:

- Merino wool long underwear

- Colourful shoe laces that will help you recognise your work shoes

- If you have glasses, consider contact lenses as it is easier to work with a helmet

STAFF BENEFITS

We do offer a lot of staff benefits - discounted rental of snowmobiles, possibilities to visit reindeers and huskies,  visiting Santa Claus and additional discounts that will be presented on the training.

ACCOMMODATION

Guide accommodation will be provided and the cost for a shared room is estimated to be in the region of 350€ - 400€.. The apartments are fully furnished, but everyone should bring their own sheets and towels.
