The National Food Institute at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a position as Analytics Engineer in the Research Group on Nutrition, Sustainability and Health Promotion. The research group manages the design, implementation, processing, analysis, and communication of complex population surveys and randomized trials. It has dynamic staff with especially national but also international visibility, and many research collaborations with other universities and organizations. This position supports the group’s capacity to efficiently execute these projects. 

The job
Primary areas of responsibility are to support the integration of computational workflows, interactive environments, and data pipelines within research projects (including complex population surveys and randomized trials).  

Responsibilities: 

  • Utilize Python, R, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to run computational analyses and automated data pipelines.
  • Optimize data processing workflows, reducing manual intervention.
  • Transform raw research data into structured, clean datasets using SQL, dbt, pandas and similar tools.
  • Develop BI dashboards and visualizations to support research findings.
  • Collaborate with the Data Support Team to ensure efficient computing environments.
  • Work closely with the project managers and data analysts to understand the development needs of the group and promote existing tools, and propose new workflows and tools, such as using Quarto for reporting and article writing.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), the OAO-S Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for IT employees (Prosa) in the service of the state, or another relevant agreement.

The position is a full-time position. Starting date is 1 July 2025 (or according to mutual agreement).

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.

  • History of using Python, R, SQL, and containerization in a professional setting (beyond academic coursework).
  • Specific examples of designing, implementing, and managing data processing workflows in a professional setting (beyond academic coursework).
  • Specific examples of developing and maintaining data visualization tools in a professional setting (beyond academic coursework).
  • History of working in a professional, collaborative research environment, demonstrating teamwork and applied problem-solving. 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Familiarity with GDPR
  • Real-world experience with nutrition and/or health research data
  • Specific experience with Docker, Kubernetes
