Role Description

Transportation & Advanced Polymers is currently looking for a Quality Engineer for the Luxembourg Hytrel®Unit.

The T&AP Hytrel® Quality Engineer will take ownership of processes and systems with the aim to maintain sustainably, develop, implement, communicate and improve the quality management system and the overall quality culture.

Detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain, develop or upgrade the quality management system to supply customers with high quality products meeting their needs
  • Investigate, identify and implement process improvements
  • Provide technical support to the lab team as required-
  • Lead quality investigation teams in case of non-conformances (internal and external)
  • Lead, organise and participate in internal quality audits
  • Execute the change management processes to achieve improvements in the quality control lab and the packaging area
  • Lead or serve on Six Sigma project teams to drive continuous improvement working on areas such as quality, yield, uptime, fixed and variable cost reductions and working capital reductions
  • Identify relevant quality related training needs and deliver it for all levels of the organisation

Requirements:

  • Technical degree (BS, MS or PhD) in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Good written and oral communication in English and German are a must, French is considered as a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills to allow productive collaborative relationships with inside customers, vendors, operations, mechanical and technical personnel; track record of fostering a respectful work environment
  • Must be self motivated and have great attention to detail but also an overall conceptual thinking
  • Strong trouble shooting skills (especially in IT systems)
  • Ability to learn in a dynamic environment and to take initiatives
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, VDA 6,…), laboratory equipment (GC/LC) as well as
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification are considered as a plus

DuPont started production in Luxembourg in 1962 with the manufacturing of Mylar polyester films. Today, the DuPont location in Contern produces an array of highly innovative materials for industries as diverse as construction, printing, automotive and landscaping. The site has roughly 1000 employees, and expansion of its activities are foreseen with the new production line for the flagship product Tyvek®, which is used for protective garments, home wrap insulation and medical packaging to mention just a few applications. The new manufacturing line will become operational in 2020, and will require 120 new jobs in various positions.
