National Oilwell Varco Inc. is a global, expanding and innovative company. We established an Engineering office in Lisbon and are therefore seeking to appoint talented engineers. NOV Portugal, which is a subsidiary of National Oilwell Varco Norway shall have 100-120 skilled engineers by the beginning of 2015. The workplace will be at our office in Lisbon, working with our divisions in Norway.

System Engineer

We are recruiting candidates to deliver and support controls system engineering.  All deliveries of control system for the drilling industry are organized as projects. System engineers will design, engineer and follow-up project deliveries.

Work assignments:

• Perform system engineering tasks in accordance with NOV’s guidelines;
• Software development and configuration;
• Responsibility for software deliveries in projects;
• Drafting, coordination and control of project-specific technical documentation;
• Follow-up and support commissioning of equipment at shipbuilding yards.

Qualifications and skills:

• We wish to hire engineers in Cybernetics, Automation or IT with Bachelor or Master Degree;
• It is desirable that you have knowledge and experience in Siemens Simatic PLC programming;

• Good communications and cooperation skills and good written and verbal presentation abilities in Portuguese and English are required;
• The ideal candidate must have a structured approach, be flexible and quality-conscious;
• We are looking for positive, driven co-workers with a good ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team;
• Personal skills/profile will be emphasized.

There will be in some cases an initial training period in Norway for up to 3 months. We will evaluate permanent employment with NOV Portugal after 6 months engagement.
