Job offer description

We are looking for a well versed System Administration who has general hardware experience, the ability to manage a number of requests with overlapping deadlines and is capable of managing workload effectively. Knowledge of PHP would be advantageous but is not essential.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Managing all aspects of the company's IT infrastructure
  • Availability Management of services – e.g. Confluence, JIRA, e-mail etc
  • Business and Service continuity management to ensure minimal service disruption
  • Security management
  • Change management – ensuring that standardised methods and procedures are used for handling changes
  • Release and deployment management of patches, upgrades etc
  • Incident and event management to minimise adverse effects on business operations

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5 years in a Linux administra­tion and troublesho­oting role (RHCE or similar certification preferred)
  • Experience of administra­tion and troublesho­oting database issues
  • Knowledge of Linux, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting – Debian/CentOS
  • Virtualisation skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience­ of MySQL
  • Good scripting skills (shell / bash, python) and experience with Puppet and or Salt
  • Experience of Network monitoring e.g. Nagios, Zabbix
  • Experience in supporting and troubleshooting J2EE applications
  • Knowledge of Macintosh, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of Network Security including Firewalls, routers, IDS
  • Good knowledge of WAN/LAN technologies, switching, secure protocols, security policies and procedures, VPN, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, AS/2, FTP, routing etc
  • Good working knowledge of common networking protocols and software
  • Good knowledge of backup technologies and software – Backupexec or similar
  • Good understanding of storage technologies (SAN, DAS, Local)
  • Experience­ of working in an ITIL environmen­t
  • Practical experience­ of managing and supporting­ business-critical applications and meeting demanding SLAs
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good spoken and written English skills (B2 or higher)

Type: 6 months contract with prospect of extending
