E-commerce sites are estimated to take up over 10% of the global internet. Our (slightly ambitious) plan is to cover all of them - at the very least the ones operating in Europe. It goes without saying we need people to help us in this never-ending expansion.
Our data collection engine (aka the hive), going from web scraping to data processing, is built out of microservices written in Python. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate developers to help build and maintain this engine. For this, good programming skills and a critical mindset are a must. Knowledge of Python is a plus.
Technologies
Working on the hive, you’ll daily come in contact with the following technologies (of which knowledge is a plus), amongst others:
- The www inside out:
- Back-end: Python
- Front-end: Javascript, HTML, CSS
- Development:
- Python, from the scraping to the data processing, it’s Python all the way.
- Git, because there really isn’t any other way to collaborate
- Automation:
- Jenkins (our preferred butler).
- Docker.
- We’re in the cloud and our services run on AWS (EC2/S3/RDS)
- Data processing:
- Databases: SQL & NoSQL.
- Pandas for data manipulation.
Profile
- Good experience with software development in an OO oriented language (Python is a plus).
- You have a strong interest in the above technologies (and related ones). You don’t have to be experienced in all of them but you must be eager to learn about them.
- You agree that code should be clean and documented.
- You have a critical mindset.
- You’re a team player, but you can independently tackle issues, given the right context.
- You can work in a dynamic environment (we are a startup after all).
- You are fluent in English.
