
OBW Technologies Ltd, the leading national provider of portable and fixed gas detection sensors and solutions in Ireland is currently looking to hire a Senior Technical Design Engineer to join their fast-paced, dynamic and growing team.
Reporting to the Technical Design Manager, the Senior Technical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the successful design and delivery of Life Safety Systems for our customers. They will work within the Operations Team to ensure successful commissioning and servicing of Gas Detection Systems. Customer engagement and collaboration with the project team is essential in capturing customer and business needs to design robust gas detection systems that comply with safety and industry requirements. Expertise in technical design, project management, and gas detection systems will be instrumental in providing innovative and efficient solutions to our clients. As a Senior team member, there will also be an onus on training and mentoring our junior team members.
· Technical Design:
o Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical design specifications for gas detection solutions.
o Conduct site visits and surveys to assess project requirements and determine the best solution based on industry standards and regulations.
o Design comprehensive and cost-effective gas detection solutions that meet customer needs and comply with safety guidelines.
o Create and provide the required level of documentation/drawings for the engineering team to enable them in their roles.
o Work within Monday.com to track customer interactions, upload documentation, progress and complete assigned tasks and report as required by the project manager on all sales requests and projects.
o Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to gas detection systems.
· Service Delivery & Project Support:
o Work closely with the project team, including engineers, PMs, and site contractors, to ensure the successful implementation of gas detection solutions.
o Provide technical guidance and support to the project team throughout the project lifecycle.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of gas detection systems with other infrastructure and equipment.
o Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and proactively address any technical issues that may arise.
o Ensure that any assigned tasks within a project are delivered within the agreed-upon timelines, budget, and quality standards.
o Assist in the handover of technical project/fixed gas detection information to the Service Team.
o Provide technical expertise to the service delivery team to enable them to build comprehensive, robust, high quality, cost effective and profitable Service Contracts.
· Customer Engagement:
o Act as a technical point of contact for customers, addressing their queries, clarifying technical specifications, and providing expert advice on gas detection solutions.
o Participate in pre-sales meetings, presentations and demonstrations to showcase the technical aspects of our gas detection systems and help sales teams in closing deals.
o Collaborate with the sales team to create accurate and compelling proposals, technical documents, and product specifications for clients.
o Conduct technical training sessions for customers and stakeholders to enhance their understanding of our gas detection solutions.
· Quality Assurance:
o Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines in all technical designs and project implementations.
o Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of gas detection systems.
o Implement and continuously improve quality control processes to deliver high-quality solutions and minimize defects.
· Training
o Provide technical training to engineers within the company
o Contribute to the overall training and development strategy within the company i.e. contribute to onboarding plans, professional development training paths, apprenticeship programme
o Provide training and support to OBW apprentices. Monitor and supervise their progress.
· Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., electrical, mechanical engineering).
· Proven experience in technical design and project management in the field of gas detection solutions or related industries.
· In-depth knowledge of gas detection technologies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
· Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software an advantage.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and interact with customers.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
· Electrical qualification an advantage.
