We are offering an international, high-impact position in our Compliance team

We are looking for a Sanctions and Export Control Compliance Officer. You will be part of our Compliance and Data Protection team in Hempel’s global operations and will collaborate with colleagues from all segments and functions across our organization.

Your key responsibility will be to further digitalize and strengthen our sanctions and export control compliance program across the Hempel Group and to support our organization and leadership teams with timely, professional and operational advice.

You will be working independently and together with colleagues on a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Keeping our sanctions and export control framework up-to-date, effective and operational

  • Making an impact through further digitalization and our network of Segment Compliance Officers

  • Working with colleagues from R&D and Procurement to ensure our products are correctly export control classified

  • Working with colleagues from Learning & Development to plan and deliver training to our employees

  • Working with colleagues from Internal Audit to ensure we adequately monitor adherence with our sanctions and export controls framework

  • Working with colleagues from Legal to assess complex regulations and contract terms

  • Working with the Business to ensure we deliver the support they need, when they need it and how they need it

  • Supporting M&A due diligence and integration activities

To some extent, you will also be involved in the broader compliance agenda and may be managing whistle-blower investigations, business partner due diligence, compliance training and other ad hoc tasks.

Hempel has its Corporate Head Office in Lyngby, and the Compliance and Data Protection team supports the entire Hempel Group. The position can be based in any of our larger Hempel offices in Europe.

We are looking for a digitally minded, operational hero and strategic thinker who can build trustful relationships

As our ideal candidate you come from an international environment, where people and customers are at the core. You have at least 5-6 years of experience focusing on sanctions and export control compliance and have solid experience with EC sanctions and dual-use regulation, U.S. EAR, OFAC and other regulations pertaining to international trade is most important. You have professional maturity, impeccable ethics, and the ability to manage multiple requirements and remain composed under pressure. You have a pro-active approach that ensures that Hempel’s compliance risks are being anticipated and responded to effectively. Importantly, you have a record of accomplishment of efficiently and effectively working and collaborating across a matrix set-up in a global organization. You have the ability, interest and experience to drive digitalization projects to further automate our screening and monitoring capabilities. You possess an excellent cultural understanding and have experience with stakeholder engagement at all levels of an organization. You have the ability to travel approx. 15-20 days a year and are proficient in English.
