IndoorAtlas is based in Oulu, Helsinki and Mountain View, CA. We develop a unique; cloud based indoor positioning service that  is available for everyone. Founded in 2012 as an Oulu University spin-off, we have been recognized as the industry forerunner, and the game-changer. Whilst the rest of the industry is still taking off, we are well on our way to global success. We are dedicated to serving app developers from all around the world by helping them to build amazing location-based apps and giving them the freedom and scale they deserve. Their story is our story. It can now be yours too.

Our engineering group located in Oulu and Helsinki needs more brainpower, and we are now hiring cloud and mobile softwareQuality Assurance Engineers to join our product development teams!

About the role

The core technology behind IndoorAtlas runs in the cloud, offering an always-up-to-date, infrastructure-free positioning service for app developers. New features are introduced seamlessly, and made available worldwide at the same time. The cloud-powered service also provides developers with an easy access to their data. As a Quality Assurance Engineer at IndoorAtlas you have a unique opportunity to work on a ground-breaking technology on its way to power indoor location-based apps worldwide and bring forth new inventions, whether your speciality is related to cloud or mobile software. We are looking to strengthen several teams as well as setting up completely new product tracks, so there will be opportunities around many aspects of our product.

You will be helping to design the strategy, tools and frameworks used for automated testing and create test plans and design test cases. You will be working within a development team to assure test coverage and quality best practices. Your role will be critical in maintaining our continuous deployment capability. We build, measure and learn so your most important tool in this position will be data. You seek data, know how to collect it, and help the whole team make decisions based on it.

Expectations for this position:

1) After the first 6 months:

  • You’ve assured that the quality of our product is always top notch!
  • You’ve made automation improvements to cloud, web or mobile quality management
  • You are able to work independently with your team

2) After your first year:

  • You’ve contributed to the way that our products are made
  • You’ve introduced new methods, tools and practices to our agile development pipeline

Success factors in this role

If you’re passionate about helping people and high quality then this might be the job for you. In order to succeed you probably have built both development-phase and production test automation in cloud. You will be working with engineers in two locations, Helsinki and Oulu. You need to enjoy being part of a distributed team in order to like this position. As every startup on its way to the top, we have quick turns and big objectives. If that scares you, you are probably better off in a slower, less ambitious company.

We are highly enthusiastic about what we do and what we need to learn while doing so. We want to share that passion with you and take it to the next level. We will happily give you responsibility and autonomy to master your role and help us reach the top together.

This is what we are looking to find in your application:

  • Work experience and passion for quality assurance and test automation for cloud services or mobile software.
  • Programming skills (UI test automation experience alone will not be sufficient)
  • Start-up background or other demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills combined with self-direction
  • An example of a tool, app or service you have created independently
  • Curiosity to learn new technologies

What We Are Like

We believe we are one of the hottest startups in the world. And we don’t just say so. Baidu, one of the leading search engine companies in the world and SK Planet, one of world’s most innovative mobile app publishers, have already chosen our technology to power their indoor solutions. We want our global platform to be used by the app developers around the world to create new kind of location-based apps and services for every aspect of life and businesses. Our team is growing rapidly and we have offices in Oulu, Helsinki and Mountain View in California.
