DTU Electrical Engineering invites applications for a position as Professor in high voltage engineering with special emphasis on management of education and teaching activities within electric power engineering.



The professor will be part of our Center for Electric Power and Energy with 100 persons focusing on technologies and solutions for a secure, cost-effective and sustainable energy system based on renewable energy sources.



Responsibilities and tasks

The professor shall develop the research field of high voltage engineering and address research challenges related to electric power component design.



Emphasis is expected to be on high voltage apparatus exposed to new electrical and/or physical environment, e.g. in offshore installations. The subject area is expected to address several of the following research challenges:

•High frequency modeling and interaction between high voltage apparatus

•Lightning protection systems of e.g. wind turbines

•Dynamic loading and thermal properties of cables and transformers

•Degradation and diagnostics of electric components



The research shall be based on advanced modelling as well as on experimental validation in laboratory experiments.



The professor shall head and develop new educational initiatives and upgrade existing educations at all levels within power engineering. This can include developing and heading new study programmes. The professor shall take a leading role in identifying new educational needs and take responsibility for contact to industry, energy companies and relevant national and international organizations, as part of DTUs obligation to ensure high quality educations.



It is expected that the professor will play a central role in the operation of the Center for Electric Power and Energy, and contribute to the daily management of the center.



Furthermore it is expected that the professor takes benefit of and contributes to DTU’s stronghold position within energy educations, including collaboration both within the department and with other relevant departments at DTU.



The successful candidate is expected to take a lead position in teaching at the bachelor-, master- and PhD levels.



Qualifications

A research and teaching track record documenting a productive career within the subject area is required. Emphasis is placed on applicants having the potential to develop the subject area and have documented original scientific production at international level. The qualification requirements are:

•In order to be eligible for employment in the position, the applicant must be able to demonstrate appreciable scientific production at international level, which has contributed to the further development of the subject area in question.

•Documented and successful education experience at different levels.

•Significant input in the field of teaching in several of the following areas: establishment of new courses, renewal of teaching activities, preparation of teaching materials, supplementary pedagogical training as well as publications in international teaching journals.

•Significant input in the field of education in several of the following fields: planning and implementation of study programmes, evaluation of study programmes, undertaking of management duties for study programmes, supplementary training in didactics, active participation in both national and international education fora, publications in international education journals.



Assessment

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

•scientific production at international level, research potential and ability to lead and develop a research team

•the ability to teach

•the ability to promote and utilize research results

•experience with innovation activities

•an all-round experience basis, including international experience

•the ability to contribute to the development of the Department’s internal and external cooperation



For the specific position consideration will also be given to:

• the ability to develop new education initiatives

•the ability to plan and head study programmes

•the ability to develop strong collaborations with industrial partners related to both research and teaching



Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is the central department at DTU within electrical and biomedical engineering. Including PhD students we have a total of almost 260 staff members.
