Are you a high-performing mechanical engineer with solid experience from the exploration and production industry?

Join us and become Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Facilities department which is responsible for early facility development activities and providing technical resources for development projects.

The department is a part of Exploration & Production which has 700 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. We explore for and produce oil and natural gas. Today, our activities are centred in the seas off Denmark, Norway and the United Kingdom, and we have an ambitious growth strategy with many exciting projects in the pipeline.

Areas of responsibility

As Principal Mechanical Engineer your duties will typically include definition and execution of the mechanical discipline scope during concept selection, FEED and execution of development projects.

Initial evaluations are typically based on in-house activities, whereas more detailed design activities include work performed by contractors. Therefore, as Principal Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for defining the main mechanical components for integrated platforms and unmanned wellhead platforms and their functional requirements. Other duties include, in collaboration with others, managing the process of ensuring that the main mechanical components are defined in further detail.

You will be supported by specialists throughout the organisation as and when required and manage/interface with different departments across Exploration & Production.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to:

•define a schedule and execution plan for the discipline scope

•carry out concept evaluation studies and prepare a detailed technical definition of the selected concept as required for the definition of main scope contracts

•develop mechanical system descriptions and a main equipment list

•develop technical specifications for selected mechanical equipment components

•handle day-to-day discipline management and follow-up on subcontractors.

Your profile

You have an education at bachelor’s degree level, as a minimum, and extensive experience performing similar work within the oil and gas industry. You are capable of operating across our organisation and acting as a leader within the mechanical discipline on a specific development project. You have previous experience with project development work, collecting and combining information from different sources into functional specifications and dealing with different stakeholders.

You have previously worked in greenfield or major brownfield environments, and with identifying and managing related project dependencies and critical path activities. Furthermore, you have experience with standard rotating and pressure-containing static mechanical equipment on unmanned wellhead platforms and integrated production platforms, as well as working with and managing major engineering/contracting companies, manufacturers and equipment suppliers.

Finally, you are highly committed to health, safety and protecting the environment. You have the ability to identify, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently.

We offer

A unique and challenging job where you have every opportunity to develop your skills, when you help to carry out some of the world's most complex offshore projects.

In DONG Energy Exploration & Production, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and innovatively with our projects with a high focus on safety. Working for us, you will be close to the decision-making processes.
