We are seeking highly motivated and talented Postdocs for 3 years to be part of the Applied Metabolic Engineering Group focusing on the development of novel lactic acid bacteria (LAB) cell factories for the production of fine and bulk chemicals in the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain).



Responsibilities and tasks

Particularly, we are looking for a candidate that will be part of an ERA-NET team focusing on novel strains for the conversion of marine biomass to useful chemicals. The candidates should have strong knowledge or interest in the development of molecular biology tools for engineering of bacteria, particularly of Lactobacilli. Together with their colleagues, the candidate is expected to apply a systems biotechnology approach to metabolic engineering tapping into the latest omics technologies including DNAreseq, RNAseq, protein, flux as well as metabolite profiling. The project team will work in close collaboration with other technology teams and departments of the Center as well as with the ERA-NET partners from Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Portugal.



Qualifications

Mandatory requirements:

•PhD degree or similar in bioengineering, chemical engineering or biochemistry as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc

•Excellent physiology and genetics knowledge of LAB

•Expertise in applying the latest cloning and strain construction tools

•High quality publication record

•Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed within a competitive research field



Preference given to candidates with strong experience in:

•Metabolic Engineering of bacteria, particularly Lactobacillus

•Bacterial and LAB Physiology

•LAB Molecular Biology

•Bioprocess Development

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The place of work will be the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at Kogle Allé 6, Hørsholm.
