The Early Years Support Centre is based in Oakview, Tralee, Co. Kerry. It is a state-of-the-art facility which was founded in 2016 with the aim of offering Families access to an inclusive and holistic approach to their Child’s learning, development, and wellbeing.  

We offer Children and their Families a highly supportive, caring environment where each Childs' individual care needs are identified and supported by our highly qualified and experienced team of Therapists.  

We are expanding our Team and looking to recruit an additional Play Therapist.

The Post Holder will be responsible for the planning and provision of Play Therapy Services to include Assessment diagnostics and Intervention Therapies and may include working with a multi-disciplinary team to develop plans to support children and their family.

Services will be provided to children aged 3-12 years and may have physical, sensory, learning disabilities, developmental delay, and autism.

Job requirements

Applicants should:

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Play Therapy & must be registered with the IPTA / IAPTP.
  • At least 6 months post qualification clinical experience working as a Play Therapist with children.
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Have a children's focus and perspective.
  • Experience using a wide range of play and creative art techniques.
  • The ability to work systemically taking into account social environments.
  • An understanding of: Children’s First, Advocacy, Safeguarding & Risk Management.
  • Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships.
  • Ensure a holistic, Client centred approach in their practice.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills & proven verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, organisational, time management & initiative skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner and to work as part of a team.
  • Have excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Good IT and computer skills.
  • Effective use of reflective practice/supervision process.
  • Some flexibility in working hours will be required to meet the needs of the service.
  • Be eligible to work in Ireland.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • The successful candidate will be offered Continuing Professional Development and Clinical Supervision.

Job Type: Part-time with a view to Full-time.
