Akershus University Hospital (Ahus) is seeking a full-time board-eligible/board-certified Physician Pulmonologist to join our team. The medical department in Kongsvinger is in a development phase where we are increasing our capacity to be able to treat the growing number of emergency patients in the vicinity. We are excited to add a pulmonologist to our team. The medical outpatient clinic has a well-equipped respiratory physiology lab with the possibility for spirometry, gas diffusion, static lung volume, FeNo and provocation tests. We currently have three pulmonary nurses in the outpatient clinic. Consultants currently have a working pattern arranged across a rota cycle of 8 weeks and supervise two levels of junior doctors. The intensive care unit has modern cardiological monitoring equipment, where 4 out of 6 beds are internal medical monitoring. We are seeking a pulmonologist who enjoys that following tasks: Diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases and disorders of the respiratory system. Interview patients to obtain information such as complaints, symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Examine patients to obtain information about lung function and associated systems. Perform or interpret the outcomes of procedures, diagnostic tests, or pulmonary function tests such as lung volume, spirometry, biopsies, and bronchoscopies. Order and interpret results of laboratory analyses. Diagnose and treat respiratory conditions based on interpretation of examination findings, histories, or test results. Qualifications:

  • Certified qualifications in the specialty in pulmonary disease issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health, this includes qualifications and willingness to be on call
  • Foreign applicants may apply, with the requirement that they obtain Norwegian medical authorization and certification in the specialty of pulmonologist before taking the position  
  • Applicants who do not speak Norwegian, Swedish or Danish must acquire such skills within 24 month following their appointment and must be fluent in English in the interim period
