The Technical University of Denmark invites application for a PhD project in the area of Drone Video Communication Technology. The project is placed within the Communication Technology Section at DTU Fotonik.



Project description

The goal of this PhD project is to study, propose and implement novel applications in the area of Drone Video Communication Technology. Drones flying video possibly also with infrared or other sensors may be used for a wide range of applications. The project shall investigate drone video applications capturing multiple signals, communicating over multiple channels and involving multiple drones. Applications range from inspection to multi-camera systems for broadcast and film events. In the project one or more demanding drone video communication applications shall be chosen. The main topics the researcher will tackle within the project are:

•Processing and coding video and sensor data

•Communication of data and control signals

•Implement and test the drone video system in selected application scenario



Qualifications

The candidate must have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. A solid background of signal and video processing or digital communications is important. Good communication skills in written and spoken English are a must.



Approval and Enrolment

The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, only candidates with an above the average marks are accepted in the program. We recommend the applicants to contact the supervisors in advance to assess the suitability of the application.

Assessment

The assessment of the applicants will be made by the department PhD school and the supervisors.



Salary and appointment terms

The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current Danish rules for Ph.D. degree researchers. The period of employment is 3 years.
