Job requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. • Compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
  2. • Compliance with PSCS Regulation requirements.
  3. • Compliance with relevant company policies and procedures.
  4. • Compliance with client’s requirements.
  5. • Value engineering.
  6. • Industry best practices.
  7. • Delivery in line with the programme requirements
  8. • Climb/Work at Height on both wooden poles and towers.
  9. • Request/Receive Operational Documentation.
  10. • Testing for loss of voltage
  11. • Earthing OHL’s / supervising the earthing of OHL.
  12. • Replacing old and erecting new equipment/hardware at both pole top and tower top.
  13. • Splicing and terminating conductors to client spec.
  14. • Fitting and removing network earths.
  15. • Witnessing/carrying out polarity checks.
  16. • Overall control of his / her crew
  17. • Quality control of his / her work area

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  1. • Experienced in the OHL power industry with 5 or more years’ experience on LV/MV Networks
  2. • Proven experience within a similar role on major projects.
  3. • Proven ability to work on both wooden poles and towers.
  4. • Have the ability to carry out work instructions issued to him by his line manager.
  5. • Provide training records/authorisations to verify his qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

  1. Current Manual Handling Training 
  2. Current First Aid Training 
  3. Current Full Valid Driving Licence
Nice to have
  1. Current MEWP Training 
  2. Current Safe pass.
  3. Trained to PICW level and possess current ESB LV/MV approval with a proven record in this discipline.

Job restrictions

The PICW will perform duties covered within his voltage level approvals from LV to MV. They will be required to climb wooden poles using the necessary safety equipment
