Than search no further, as we are looking for a skilled operations engineering professional.

Your job

As an Operations Engineer you work in all-round DevOps teams with Developers, Operations, User Experience and Customer Journey experts to deliver and operate mobile banking services (i.e. Apps).

With your engineering skills you continuously seek to improve our operational processes. We strive to automate these processes as much as possible. Doing so with your contribution software will get faster, more frequent and with a higher quality to production, providing our customers with updates enabling them to perform their banking easier, faster and safer.

You strive to automate our monitoring, testing, tuning and capacity management capabilities so the team can see early when things go wrong and are able to act quickly in preventing loss of service; in the event that things do go wrong (as we are all human) you perform root cause analysis, contribute to restoring service as fast as possible and learn from the experience in identifying the root-cause of the problem and work actively to prevent the problem from occurring again.

You are eager to learn and use (new) technologies (such as: Docker, Graphite, LogStash, Grafana, Gatling, Nagios, Nolio) furthermore you are an expert in Linux, you prefer scripting over doing things manually and have a strong affinity with middleware such as Tibco Enterprise Bus, Tomcat, Cassandra, Oracle. 

You continuously tune the performance of the systems taking cost and the trend of resource usage of the infrastructure into consideration. Furthermore you enable your squad by supporting and enhancing the development environments (such as the build server, Jenkins & Sonar).

The level of expertise and experience within the Mobile department is very high. We expect a lot from each other however we don’t forget to have some fun while crafting our Apps; In the form of inspirational time like hack-a-tons or after hour drinks. We have a high standard and want an experienced engineer with proven track record to raise our collective experience even further.

Your profile

You are the Engineer, ING is looking for because you have:

• Minimal a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or comparable (HBO opleiding)
• Experience in implementing monitoring procedures and systems
• Strong knowledge of Linux with the ability to install, configure, analyze, maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and manage the security of operating systems, middleware and networks
• Experience working with network architecture including VPNs, load balancers, firewalls, switches, and routers
• Solid experience in the automation of operational processes using a Continuous Delivery Pipeline
• Experience in operating database management systems (such as Oracle, Cassandra)
• Experience in operating middleware such as Tomcat, TIBCO Enterprise Bus, JVMs
• A working attitude to work in a Professional Engineering culture and you like to participate in communities
• An attitude to rather automate than performing manual tasks (such as automation of deployments, tests, builds, packaging and shipping.)
• Experience in designing and engineering highly available, reliable, and scalable infrastructures

It is an advantage if the candidate has experience in Java, iOS and/or android development and mobile experience using the different stores (e.g. App Store, Google Play)

• Willing to work in standby shifts outside regular office hours.
