The New Business Development Consultant is responsible for evaluating and developing new business opportunities and applications, taking concepts from ideation and preparing them for incubation investment. He/she will investigate core, adjacent, and new markets in search of unmet market needs and attractive opportunities and deploy a variety of strategies to advance growth. He/she will work closely with the technical and R&D team and the business growth leader. In some projects targeting existing markets, He/she will work with the global and regional business teams. He/she will manage a set of growth projects from ideation and market assessment to launch through our stage-gate process.

The role is global in scope. It is preferably based in Luxembourg. The role involves both domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess growth opportunities and develop recommendations and optionality related to them.
  • Build the business case for new business development programs, including financial and risk assessment models.
  • Determine value propositions for key end use segments; provide and refine CTQs for product development.
  • Research competition and competitive offerings; determine competitive advantages and risks; forecast potential competitive responses and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Continually monitor and refine Voice of Customer (VOC) through the product development cycle Serve as the marketing leader for relevant business development projects (i.e. new business development stage gate process).
  • Work closely with regional teams to develop market launch plans, including 4Ps by regions. Develop sales tools and lead sales training.
  • Work closely with the Growth leader, Technical and Product Management teams to organise the pipeline development and management process. Work collaboratively to assess, prioritise and seed product growth opportunities.
  • Investigate, research, and map core and adjacent markets and segments to identify unmet market needs and opportunities

Qualifications:

  • MBA degree or equivalent + plus experience working in technically-oriented businesses
  • Several years’ work experience in marketing, business development, or strategy
  • Experience in industrial and B-to-B marketing-
  • Experience working with R&D teams, developing and launching new products
  • Project management experience
  • Early stage innovation experience will be considered as an advantage
  • Intellectual curiosity coupled with a strong drive towards execution
  • Self-starter and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Strong influence management and ability to work with and gain alignment across a wide range of functions and cultures
  • Technical background will be a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 30-50% of the time

DuPont started production in Luxembourg in 1962 with the manufacturing of Mylar polyester films. Today, the DuPont location in Contern produces an array of highly innovative materials for industries as diverse as construction, printing, automotive and landscaping. The site has roughly 1000 employees, and expansion of its activities are foreseen with the new production line for the flagship product Tyvek®, which is used for protective garments, home wrap insulation and medical packaging to mention just a few applications. The new manufacturing line will become operational in 2020, and will require 120 new jobs in various positions.
