The mission of the Network Infrastructure (NI) Business Group is to be the most trusted partner for the world’s most critical network infrastructure. NI will respond to the ever-increasing demand for networks with higher capacity, greater reliability, faster speeds, and lower costs. Within NI, the IP Networks Division develops, markets and supplies routing solutions to meet the demand of a fully converged networking landscape evolving towards unicast video, cloud-based services and massive traffic growth.

The IP Regional Business Center in Europe is the representative of the NI IP Networks Division within the Europe region. The IP Sales Engineering and Business Development team is part of the IP RBC

What you will learn and contribute to

The IP Network Automation Sales Engineer partners with the sales and pre-sales team to drive the product offering and solutions for her/his assigned accounts.

  • Works in tandem with other RBC members and account manager to set the overall sales strategy and tunes the NI IP value proposition to the specific customer needs. Has expert knowledge of the customer network technology
  • Guides, mentors, and upskills other SEs in the region on Network Automation related topics
  • Influences and impacts customer’s buying decision. Works with customer’s engineers to gain advanced insight into future network architectural changes. Uses customer relationships to influence content of RFP’s pro-actively
  • Presents and discusses with the customer the proposed automation solutions, both during the prospect phases and the negotiation phases. Provides pre-sales technical support and technical expertise to solve customer’s business issues. Analyzes, designs and elaborates system solutions. Conducts technical presentations for customers at all levels
  • Plays a key role in the customer offer preparations, both in terms of building the Bill of Quantities as well as in answering and describing the technical offering.
  • Provides design guidelines for optimal usage of the automation solutions and provides regular roadmap updates towards the customer, manages customer requirements, new product introduction and feeds demand planning with data of upcoming projects
  • Holds a deep knowledge of the competitive network automation environment, both technically and commercially. Uses this information actively to define a mid to long term strategy for her/his assigned accounts
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to both the customer and her/his peers within Nokia
Job requirements

For this role, you can be located anywhere in Europe but you need to have availability to travel, at least, 50% of the time.

Capability to interact as a peer with sales teams, with other RBC Pre-sales and Delivery teams, to clearly articulate the customer needs and the price targets that need to be achieved and to get experts efficiently engaged in the opportunity development process, whenever needed, is required.

  • Must have:
    • Deep understanding of the telecommunication market, both from an operator as from a competitive vendor perspective
    • Expert knowledge in the IP domain, preferably supported by several certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCIP, CCNA…)
    • Minimum of seven years of experience in telecommunications industry, mainly in an IP specific pre-sales environment
    • Exposure to Kubernetes automation and its concepts
    • Able to articulate automation benefits to very high level (CxO) as well as to day-to-day operations teams. "Money" benefits for customer vs "my daily job will be much easier" for operations engineer
    • Embraces a culture of openness, teamwork, positive energy, ownership and consistently delivering results
    • Ability to work effectively across cultures, languages, time-zones, in a remote management set-up (distributed organization)
    • Ability to accommodate the travel requirements of the position
    • Master’s degree in a technical and/or business stream
    • Excellent written and oral communication /presentation skills in English
    • Strong facilitation and moderation skills
Nice to have
  • Exposure to Nokia NSP platform (WFM, Intent manager, etc..) and Nokia Network Automation products
  • Exposure to CI/CD principles, GitOps, NetOps as well as Nokia solutions managing these (even outside NI portfolio)
