Sheet metal welder/facricator
Purpose of the role
Primary responsibility will be TIG and MIG/MAG welding of mild and stainless steel parts.
The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.
Proven ability to work mon own initiative with safety, accuracy and timeliness in the welding area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
MIG/MAG and TIG welding, including the following:
· Create quality welds according to drawings/blueprints (weld symbols)
· Inspect welds for accuracy.
· Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel/ parts.
· Change wire, and welding accessories, as needed.
· Change gas tanks, as needed.
· Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location
· Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
· Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. Ability to align components using jogs and clamps.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Experience:
- Proven experience of working with Mig and Tig welding.
- Position requires good mathematical ability and the ability to read and technical drawings.
- Experience as a forklift driver is an advantage.
- Experience in using sheet metal machinery and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards.
- Proficient in English.
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required.
