Job Objective

Reporting to the Operational Manager, The Logistic Manager is responsible for the management of the Logistics department, thereby ensuring the department can attain the goals set forth in the M&E department mission statement, as well as more superficially in the logistics department

Key Result Areas

  • Leading a team of 9 Logistic Coordinators and 6 Purchasers.
  • The management of the stock of spares, equipment and tooling
  • The negotiation of contracts with suppliers and distributors
  • Centralizing the purchase of all materials for the maintenance organization
  • He/she will assure the components and equipment are bought from or sent for repair to E.S.A/F.A.A. approved suppliers and repair stations by consulting the list of approved suppliers and repair stations.
  • He/she will buy and ship for repair, component and materials with respect for the best interest of the organization
  • The sales of components and surplus materials
  • Supervise the purchase of spares and equipment for aircraft and workshops
  • Ensure subcontracting of activities on behalf of the maintenance of aircraft, engines, components and aircraft equipment parts in Belgium and abroad
  • Keeps the stock at an adequate level with regard to the need for Line and Base maintenance of the feet based on flight operations.
  • Supervise the storage of all components and materials
  • Purchase and its administration of A/C components , materials, tools and equipment
  • Supervise the creation and acceptance of new supplier or repair station
  • Supervises test and measuring equipment, assuring period checks and calibrations are made and that the current records are maintained of those
  • Assure corrective action resulting from quality compliance monitoring is carried out

Although the responsibilities of the logistic manager are unique to the positions, his duties can be attended to by the Head of  M&E for financial decisions.

Required Diploma and relevant experience

  • Bachelor or master in engineering, preferably with aircraft maintenance background.
  • Line or base maintenance experience is advisable
  • Purchasing preferably in the aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of the technical aircraft systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Airworthiness rulemaking
