Your position

As a Lead Engineer you execute projects and you will focus on identifying, initiating and implementing improvement activities. You are responsible for the process from conception to client handover with a positive result contribution on project planning, technical performance, and financial results.

Together with your team members you execute the control systems from hardware, system and network design, software development (Robot controls and/or Machine vision systems), electrical installation, integration of different components, system commissioning and testing to the final handover to the customer.

During the projects you manage the requirements, integration, configuration and software changes. Within the quotation bids you work closely together with the systems and sales department. You coordinate the technical trainings and define training programs for end users and the Vanderlande Service department. For this you take part in a 24/7 support service.

Besides your technical contribution to the project you are advising the Vanderlande Robotics Management of needed improvements for project execution and proposing technical solutions for complex and multidisciplinary problems.

Your department

Vanderlande Robotics is a newly created department within Vanderlande and is situated in Almere. Its main focus is developing and delivering turn-key robot applications within Vanderlande systems in both Baggage as well as WPP (Warehousing, Parcel & Postal) material handling systems. In order to support the expected growth of the organization we are looking to recruit talent to help in developing the right framework and skills within our organization.

In the available position you will lead a team of Robotics controls (development) engineers and are responsible for overseeing and executing the design, programming, commissioning and testing of the entire Robotics solution. You work closely with the Robotics Project Leader, Mechanical Project Lead and the Vanderlande overall project controls team involved throughout the life of the project.

Your profile

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 year experience in implementation and managing of  robotics applications, preferably in material handling systems.
  • Strong team mentality and acceptance of responsibility for project completion.
  • Proven skills in understanding and designing PLC/Robot programs and networks (i.e. Ethernet, PROFIBUS/PROFINET).
  • Electrical aptitude and knowledge of acceptable practices, techniques and codes.
  • You enjoy the challenge of working abroad, for this role a maximum of 30% travel is required
