The Job

For one of our clients we seek an IT System Engineer to join a small team of IT System Engineers, who are designing and managing a challenging and heterogeneous environment. You will become part of a highly skilled IT support team with a broad technical skill set, where you will be managing the complete in-house hosted IT Infrastructure and providing 1st to 3rd level support to both your colleagues and our internal clients. A proactive attitude, social approach and eagerness to expand your IT skills in the full range, do you recognise yourself in these competences? Then we are looking for you!

Together with your team, you will be responsible for:

• 50+ workstation;
• 80+ servers, containing;
• a HPC cluster (Linux);
• a high capacity redundant storage systems (own design, ZFS); a Citrix XenServer based (XCP) virtualisation platform;
• various back office systems;
• a Citrix XenApp environment;

There is a strong preference for FOSS implementations in general. We consider the ability and willingness to work with different software and operating systems more important than specific experience with any particular software.

Required Skills/Experience

• 5 or more years’ work experience as IT System Engineer in a heterogeneous environment;
• 3 or more years’ work experience in managing Linux and Windows environments;
• Experience with shell scripting;
• Experience with standard networking services and devices;
• Good English language communication skills, both written and spoken;
• Ability to work in a team, as well as independently;

Desired Skills/Experience

• Experience with interoperability between Active Directory/LDAP/Kerberos and Unix based systems (CIFS/Samba);
• Security and firewalls;
• Automated configuration tools (eg: Windows Deployment Services, Anaconda/Kickstart).
• Experience with ZFS File System and its features.

Employment conditions

The gross basic salary based on fulltime employment will be €35.000 per annum.
