Job offer description

Help us improve the way we protect

In Hempel we are committed to optimise the way the world’s limited resources are being utilised. In order to do so, we are investing in our ability to increase durability of our coatings solutions. We are therefore looking for a dedicated person to initiate and run technology projects towards stronger and more sustainable coating solutions.

Protecting our customers’ assets means prolonging the use of the resources involved. The role is therefore in good correlation with not only our focus of staying relevant to our customers, but also with our strong commitment to sustainable development. Being successful in this role will mean bridging the gap between customer value and sustainability.

Scientist with project management skills

As an R&D Scientist in Technology and Innovation, Marine R&D, you will be responsible for the early technology development within marine coatings. This mean that you will be running and coordinating a number of technical projects. The projects will revolve around:

  • Chemical product design
  • Design of new test methods
  • Structure-property relationships
  • Chemical surface analysis

What we are looking for

As a successful candidate you will have a background as a chemical engineer, chemist or equivalent. You will know the challenges of working with front-end innovation. You thrive working in the lab, but are eager to roll up your sleeves to make new technologies reach the market. As an R&D Scientist it is natural for you to be self-driven, proactive and curious; you are keen to innovate. Experience with one or more of the following topics is advantageous:

  • Innovation in chemical industry
  • Polymer chemistry
  • Material science

Join our ambitious technology team

As a Scientist, you will become part of our ambitious Marine Technology and Innovation team in R&D. We are a growing team of scientists that fight determinedly every day against waste in the shipping industry.

In Hempel we offer a variety of global career possibilities and many cross functional and cross cultural working relationships. We strive to create the right conditions for personal and professional development.

Join a global company where the employees are truly passionate about delivering the best in everything they do. With business in mind and people at heart we always work together to influence our road ahead. We want you to be part of our growth journey and of a great, global family.
