“Kozloduy NPP-New Builds” EAD is a project-based company owned by “Kozloduy NPP” EAD. Our mission is to implement and complete the commissioning of two new nuclear power units for electricity and heat production at the site of the existing nuclear power plant in Kozloduy.

We manage the entire lifecycle of the project—from feasibility studies and design to construction and commissioning—utilizing the latest generation (III or III+) AP1000 pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology.

As the project advances, we are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Head of Department – Automation Project Engineering to lead and oversee all automation-related activities across the project lifecycle.

By joining our leadership team as a Head of Department – Automation Project Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bulgaria’s energy sector. You will lead a team of professionals dedicated to delivering cutting-edge automation solutions that ensure safety, efficiency, and sustainability in nuclear energy production.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Automation Project Engineering Department, overseeing all automation engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
  • Define departmental strategy, goals, and KPIs aligned with project milestones and organizational objectives.
  • Supervise the review, validation, and integration of automation systems, including SCADA, PLCs, and DCS, ensuring compliance with international standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems.
  • Manage departmental resources, including staffing, budgeting, and training, to ensure optimal performance and capability development.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for automation systems, providing guidance on design optimization, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring for automation-related services and equipment.
  • Oversee and validate testing strategies for automation systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Represent the department in high-level meetings with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and international partners.
  • Prepare and present strategic reports, technical documentation, and performance reviews to executive leadership.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the department.

Nice to have
  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Automation Engineering or a related field. Additional qualifications in project management or leadership are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in automation engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within EPC/EPCM projects in the energy or nuclear sector.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead a teams and manage complex technical projects.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent command of English; Bulgarian language skills are an advantage.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of automation systems, engineering software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to Travel: Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally.
